Watching the World Cup 2006 in Germany doesn't really come cheap. Unless, you have won your ticket at some contest, chances are, you have already shelled out $$$. And as mentioned by Gridskipper, "since you already spent a year's pay, your inheritance, your chemotherapy allowance, and your entire Barclays cash advance limit on game tickets, it's best to save on transit and accommodation."
With the $ to € exchange rate and the fact that Germany isn't exactly your budget traveller's paradise, you have to be a little bit more creative in order to save a few more.
Here are a few links to sites which could give you ideas of what you can do to save during the World Cup:
Sherman's Travel tells you how to get to your destination at a cheaper price. It may not be the most direct way but, hey, it could mean dinner.
Over at EuropeString, I have also written quite a few Euro-cheapo tips on (1) where to find budget accommodations; (2) which beer to get when you celebrate that big win; (3) how to tour around country when there is no game; and (4) your rights for FREE local transportation on the date of the game you have tickets for.
Remember, you do not need to sell your soul in order to survive during the games
