North Korea decided a couple of months ago to make it easier for US citizens to travel there, according to Bloomberg.

As Kayak puts it, this may be the year to go if you've ever harbored any desire to see North Korea. In the past, the hermit/pariah state has allowed American's in only during the Arirang Festival in August and September.

While you can now travel to North Korea at any time of year, tourists still have to arrange their travel plans through a government-approved tour operator and abide by approved itineraries and destinations. Most such scheduled visits take visitors through China's capital, Beijing, and then on to Pyongyang after a brief stay.

The US State Department has some advice for American's visiting North Korea. Among their suggestions: U. S. citizens visiting North Korea should register with the Swedish Embassy in Pyongyang.
