Virgin American

richard branson, THE brainchild of Virgin Airlines, has yet again extended his entrepreneurial skills with the launch Virgin America.

With its main base of operations in SFO, Virgin America will be servicing major cities in the US. The Virgin brand aims to provide low-fare yet high quality service. Unlike the usual range of services offered (or not offered) by no-frill airlines, Virgin America will have all the luxury minus the big tag price.

Virgin American passengers can expect the following:

  • In-Flight Entertainment System with movies galore and free games.
  • Assortment of food
  • modern black leather seats from Recaro, with 32in pitch and 19.7" seat width

No wonder US airlines like Delta, Continental and American did everything they could to stop Virgin America from entering the market.

Do check out Ben Mutzabaugh of USAToday's Today in the Sky coverage on the launch of Virgina America.

I don't care what the others (whining competing airlines) about Virgin America. I think that this new development will mean good things to budget travelers in America.
