One of the most intriguing experiences Thailand has to offer is the monthly Full Moon Party on Phangan Island. The Hotels Thailand Blog gives a schedule for the parties for 2008 and 2009.
Literally thousands of people make their way to Haad Rin Beach on the island's southern tip each month. They spend the night dancing on the beach in the moonlight. There's usually a well known DJ and the music spans a wide stretch of styles - Techno, Trance, Goa, D&B, Dub, Reggae, Commercial hits, House etc.
You can get a bungalow on the beach for as little as 300 Baht - about $8.50. Of course, if you want air conditioning, a pool and a mini-bar you'll pay a little more...
