Thanksgiving is one of the busiest travel times of the year. Family members hurrying to go home by land, sea and air. If you're brave enough to hop in a plane, bus, train or ship on the week of Thanksgiving, or simply bored from doing the traditional Thanksgiving ceremony at home, here are alternative ideas and travel destinations for you.

1. Head to the Plimoth Plantation for an All-Day Thanksgiving Celebration.

2. Attend a true New York experience with the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

3. Have your Thanksgiving dinner at the John Carver Inn which is the site of the original pilgrim settlement.

4. Or avoid the east and head to Vegas. Wendy Zarganis listed restaurants that will be serving traditional Thanksgiving menus.
