Thailand tourism, after the Tsunami

Phuket, the crown jewel of Thailand's beach resorts, is back on track, nearly four months after the Tsunami hit the island paradise. According to this local tourism website, "you'll be benefiting from lower hotel rates, serenely quiet beaches and local bargains on everything from souvenirs to superb meals."

I have no doubts whatsoever that the people in the tourism business have done their best and made sure that everything is as beautiful as it once was; it has also been reported that a lot of the hotels and restaurants are now fully operational. However, some reports are making a lot of people think twice about biting the very tempting offer.

As Seth Mydans of the New York Times has reported, "seismologists say the fault line that caused the original earthquake is still active and it is impossible to predict whether and when further shocks might follow or whether they might cause tsunami waves."

On the other hand, adventurous travellers abound. A number of tourists may be headed for Phuket, despite the warnings.

I am pretty sure that the beaches of Thailand will be soon be dotted with people once again. And with all the footages and reports we have seen since December, should Tsunami *knock on wood* hit Thailand once again, you all know the signs and way to safety.
