Thailand on a Budget
Filed in archive Budget Asia on October 29, 2006
Since Thailand is the region's hub, the chances of you getting a great deal on your plane ticket is huge. Of course, another option is to hitch a ride or travel as an air courier.
As for accommodations, the options are endless. Whatever your budget is, you'll definitely find something... from guesthouses and budget hotels to beachside huts. Check out this site for the possibilities.
Should you find yourself attending the Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006 horticulture show in Chiang Mai, you'll be happy to know that accommodations cost only 20 baht ($0.54) per person per night! For a deal such as this, there is definitely a catch... you'd be sleeping in the funeral hall of the Wat Jet Yod temple.
When eating in Thailand, go local -- whether you want to eat in restaurants or try Thai street food. It's bound to be inexpensive. Plus, Thai food is one of the best cuisines in the world. At least, in my opinion.
And if you want to spend even less, leave Bangkok (assuming that Bangkok is your jump-off) and head for Chiang Mai. It's even cheaper there.
Check Travel Independent Info for more info.
Places to See in Thailand and Before You Go to Thailand are two guidelines from Greg should give you a good overview of what you can also expect on your trip to the Kingdom of Thailand.
