South Carolina

Charleston, South Carolina is one of the most charming and historic cities in the southern U.S. Add to that the fact hat it has its own beaches and you get a great place to visit.

USA Today had a feature recently on how to see Charleston without breaking your piggybank.

You don't need deep pockets to enjoy this town of pastel buildings, narrow alleys and quaint, secluded gardens. Indeed, you can experience much of Charleston, which has a reputation for being the nation's most polite city, for a pittance.

The article goes through some tips on getting around in Charleston. If you're not a native to the city the system of oneway streets can be confusing. USA Today also takes a look at the long list of things to do in Charleston for free.

I personally love visiting South Carolina. You can read the USA Today article here.
