Short Stay Fee? You’re Kidding!

Short Stay Fee? You're Kidding!

As if the costs of travel weren't high enough, some hotels, such as the Blue Heron, are now charging "short stay" fees. To add insult to injury, if you book these hotels through Orbitz, nobody seems to feel that this is information that should be disclosed to the guest before she makes the reservation!

Here's the story!

The advice about staying in the lobby and making a scene is correct. I did this in Egypt about 25 years ago. I actually made myself cry, and told them I was a travel writer on my first assignment. I wasn't at the time. Be careful what you lie about!
