Scratching the Surface of Budget Travel in Southeast Asia
Filed in archive Budget Asia by Melissa Petri on October 26, 2006

Experience and see the exotic beauty of Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, Burma and Laos for less than half the price of what it normally costs to travel within the West.
You can save (not counting the discount you get during low season) on airfares alone if you use Thailand as your entry point as it is the main hub of SE Asia. Travel within the region is also getting even cheaper and cheaper with the rise in number of budget airlines.
There are tons of budget accommodations all over the region, as well. Food is cheap, too.
Note, though, that Singapore is more expensive in comparison to the other countries in the region.
