Looking for ways to save money on your next vacation? Are you concerned about the future of our planet? Eco-friendly travel might be the best solution. Here are some clever ways to save money while saving the environment:
1. Carry a reusable water bottle: In the United States, only a small portion of plastic water bottles is ever recycled. This problem is compounded in developing countries that lack the infrastructure to collect and process them. Think of the money you'll save when you don't have to buy a new bottle of water each day.
2. Eat local foods: Choose seasonal and local specialties. Foods that need to be shipped to their destination require air travel, which increases carbon emissions.
3. Travel by train: Better yet, take a sleeper. You'll save on a hotel
4. Take a walking tour as opposed to a car tour: Side benefit: Great exercise!
