Safety Tips For Pet Travel

It's almost summer and pet lovers are most probably be traveling with their pets.

Before you travel with your pets this summer, take note of the following travel safety tips for your pets:

Health

Your pet's health should be your top priority before you go on travel. You should take pets to a vet no less than two weeks before departure for a complete physical and bring all vaccinations current. Some vets will apply flea and tick preventatives to ensure the best health for your pet.

Diet

It is recommended that you pack some bottled water and food for your pets before leaving home. You pet should eat at least three hours before departure. Do not feed your pet inside a moving vehicle.

Equipment

You as pet owner should invest in a quality crate or carrier before leaving for travel. Such devices can prevent injury in a vehicle collision while on the road and act as a familiar bed while staying at an unfamiliar location. Other pet-related equipments you should bring when you travel includes: brush or comb, a six foot leash, towels or blankets, a first aid kit, a travel-friendly set of food and water bowls, waste scooper, grooming supplies and a favorite toy.

Car Concerns

For motion sensitive pets, you should have a ready pet's travel crate inside the vehicle.
