Ridester

Traveling within the US? Whether you are going to drive your own car or find a ride with someone else who has a car, Ridester can definitely help you.
"Ridester is a road trip marketplace where travelers can offer or find rides within a feedback-rated community."
If you have a car, you can offer rides. The people who ride with you will cover the cost of gas. And yes, you can choose who will ride with you. Check the details on how to offer rides here.
If you do not have a car, you can request a ride or check out the available offers here.
It's a cost-effective and safe (well, relatively) way to share the cost of gas with someone else who would be going in the same direction. It's also one of the cheapest way to get to your destination, if you do not have access to a car.

GishiGo is a smart and easy way to improve your ride share and carpool
experience. It's got great maps, and is terrific network design. Drivers can make a post, and passengers "Make a Match". The passenger can make a post, and then when they find compatible driver posting, "Make a Match" without paying anything more. It's only 99 cents and this is how the identity is exchanged. Leverages PayPal, and brings in
the legal system cause it's financial transaction ... not just BS.

There is NO registration on GishiGo .
GishiGo significantly filters out the dishonesty factor when using
Craigslist or MySpace, etc. Those free and anonymous systems are full of wishy washy stories with people having fake identity, etc. It is not
perfect system ... but the 99 cent commitment and exchange of identity
really does a good job. Well worth it. It's ideal to use with Craigslist ... make your typical CL post and reference that you have "Post #___ on GishiGo" and that you "expect to exchange identity using GishiGo before meeting." This works well.
