Recession Creates Lots of Vacancies at Yellowstone
One of the best vacations I ever took was a visit to Yellowstone National Park. Now National Parks Traveler is saying that the recession has created a lot of lodging vacancies in and around the busy park. And that's probably good for your budget.
Yellowstone's lodging concessionaire, Xanterra Parks & Resorts, reports that there is more vacancy for the summer at this time of year than they typically encounter. As a result, if you've always wanted to visit Yellowstone, and managed to avoid the worst of the economic doldrums, this might be a great year to realize that dream.
Winter visitation was down by over 13%. I may look at going back to the park myself…

Absolutely the best time to travel is during a recession for two reasons — first, you do not have the crowds and secondly the hotel industry offers its best deals during the bleakest times. Can’t wait to go back to Yellowstone!

I agree with Roman, only if you can afford it though. Some people will take vacations because of the prices and not remember why we are in a recession…
