With the new security threat, travellers in the USA and the UK now have to face new rules, along with tighter security and longer lines. Please keep the following in mind:

All liquids, creams and gels are banned from your carry-on bags. You have to put them in your checked-in luggage. When in doubt, put them on your checked-in luggage or risk having it confiscated.

However, if you are leaving from the UK, there are no hand-carried bags allowed at all. A few personal items "such as pocket-size wallets and purses, glasses (but not cases), medications, diapers and female sanitary items (unboxed), and essential travel documents" will be allowed. All of those allowed would have to be carried in a transparent plastic bag.

Due to these new rules, some airlines have been waiving excess baggage fees. Only within limit, of course.

Afraid to travel? Most airlines are allowing travelers to postpone or cancel flights without charging fees.
