The 4th Annual Tybee Island Pirate Fest, one of Tybee's most wildly popular events, is October 9 through 11. This year, the celebration is bigger than ever, with a "Buccaneer Ball," Thieves' Market, multiple concerts (including the world-famous Marshall Tucker Band) - all in addition to children's activities and the perennial favorite pirates' parade.
The festivities kick-off Thursday night at The Crab Shack's Buccaneer Ball where officials will crown a pirate king and queen. Enjoy appetizers, cocktails, and music by Savannah Steve plus a costume contest for the best pirate and wench. Tickets are $20.00 in advance and $25.00 at the door.
On Friday at 6 p.m. the pirate invasion begins in the shadow of the Tybee Pier and Pavilion. The pirates and their buccaneers will invade Tybee with cannons blazing, in search of Tybee's Mayor Jason Buelterman and the "key to the city". Once the key has been surrendered the pirates will party Friday night with live entertainment featuring the music of The Train Wrecks, Liquid Ginger and Dikki Du and the Zydeco Krewe! There will be a Thieves Market with treasures for all ages, food and drink, plus The Little Matey's Cove that will be filled with children's activities
The fun continues at South Beach on Saturday morning, and at 3 p.m. the pirates and their buccaneers will gather for a victory parade down Butler Avenue. And, the pirates will share their wealth of trinkets and doubloons with the crowd along the parade route. Live music will be playing all day and at 9 p.m., the world famous Marshall Tucker Band will take the stage.
