Opera in Verona on a Budget

I recently went on a business trip to Verona. And since we had a night free, my colleague and I decided to show ourselves around the city made famous by Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.

It was beautiful. We walked around the whole centro storico of Verona for a couple of hours. When 10pm came, we ate the restaurant row on the piazza right across the Arena. We were lucky. There was an opera scheduled that night and we were able to listen in while we ate dinner.

Now, if you are a fan of the Opera and would like to experience seeing and hearing a performance live in Verona, check out this site for the schedule so you can time it with your visit.

If you do not have much money to spare, you can always just choose tickets for "unreserved stone steps". Note that performances from Sunday to Thursday are cheaper than those scheduled on Fridays and Saturdays.

Further reduction are offered for those over 60 years of age and under 26.

CHEAPEST OPTION: Sit on the garden in the middle of the piazza or on the steps and listen from outside.

I love those serendipitous moments — catching an opera from the garden steps sounds great!
