Live Music during 3 Ring Weekend

Playing a brand of rock rooted in the Woodstock generation, Rusted Root plays a free show on Sat., July 5 after opener Pete Francis. The sextet has a polyrhythmic style of roots music and jam rock, comprised of impressively diverse chops and soaring vocals.

Opening up for Rusted Root on Sat., July 5, is New York-based songwriter Pete Francis . Known as one-third of the indie monolith DISPATCH and often appreciated for his poetic lyrical content even more than his expressive vocals and diverse arrangements, Francis' tunes create a dream-like existence that allows the listener to make their own interpretation.

On Sun., July 6 at 1 p.m., Justin Roberts and his wonderfully named bandmates The Not Ready for Naptime Players dish out unexpectedly intelligent and whimsically rocking music for kids and their parents. Justin Roberts is truly one of the "all-stars" of the indie family music scene, with some calling him the hardest working man in children's show business.

DJ Ivy will be spinning tunes during the Recycled Rags Dance Party on the Solar Stage at West Lake, on Sat., July 5, from 8 - 10 p.m.

Environmental Education and Entertainment during 3 Ring Weekend

Copper is working with Summit County Recycling to make this a Zero Waste Event. ZeroHero Staff will be onsite to educate visitors about Zero Waste and living Green, working to compost or recycle more than 90% of all waste produced during 3 Ring Weekend. Guests can: compost cups, plates, flatware, and food waste; recycle glass, aluminum, cardboard, cell phones, and batteries and trash the rest of the waste.

Coca-Cola will be onsite promoting their 5-Inside program to encourage recycling. When guests visit the Coca-Cola recycling tent and recycle a plastic bottle, a limited number of 5-inside t-shirts - made from 5 recycled plastic Coke bottles - 50% recycled plastic bottles, 50% cotton - will be given away.

Sat., July 5, guests enjoy Primp My Ride, a kid-powered parade. Kids and families can decorate their bike, skateboard, roller skates, scooter, tricycle or pogo stick starting at 10 a.m. at West Lake and then at 11 a.m. cruise through the Village at Copper for this earth-friendly 4th of July parade, led by Giant Puppets. Decorations will be provided, but feel free to bring your own eco-craft supplies. Prizes will be awarded for artistic merit, technical merit and best overall.

The Solar Powered Bubble Tower is self-sufficient and requires no outside electricity. Children of all ages are captivated by the endless variety of shapes, sizes, colors and movement of the bubbles.

ZeroHero will also provide children and families with Recycled Arts-n-Crafts and Sustainable living education, including: Origami classes using recycled materials; Solar S'mores, where kids will learn how they can use the sun for cooking food, powering homes and heating water; Pine Cone Bird Feeders; Paints and Chalk; Bubble-making; and Bean bag toss, where, using a ZeroHero waste station tent, kids sort labeled bean bags and decide which hole to throw towards - recycle, compost, or trash. In addition, children of all ages will enjoy coloring the 12-foot Giant Kids Mural all weekend long, on the deck of Metals Rock, near West Lake.

The Conscious Carnival features carnival games of chance with eco-twists, designed to engage the participants with entertaining and fun activities while learning about a variety of issues concerning the environment and sustainability. One example is the Recycle Swish , similar to a Basketball Toss, where plastic bottles, cans, paper, compost and trash act as the replacement basketballs to the player who must make split-second sorting decisions of which container "basket" to throw each item. The Conscious Carnival is an integral part of its larger cross-country tour, t he Sustainable Living Roadshow, which is a caravan of educators and entertainers who tour the country in a fleet of renewable fuel vehicles to empower communities and individuals to utilize sustainable living strategies for a healthier planet.

Alpinista Italian Bistro will host the first wine flight and appetizer tasting of the summer Sat., July 5 from 4-6 p.m. The featured winery is Echelon from California, with samples of Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay and Viognier - each wine will be paired with an appetizer. The cost of this great wine flight and appetizer tasting is $15.00 per person, tax and gratuity not included. Don't miss this great opportunity to wine down, relax and enjoy scrumptious food! Reservations are recommended. Call 970-968-1144 for more info.

Parents - drop the little ones off at Kids' Night Out (KNO) and get the full experience of the wine flight and appetizer tasting. Kids' Night Out is a free childcare service offered to parents who have spent or plan to spend at least $30 per child in any commercial outlet at the resort during the hours that your child(ren) are in the program. Ages 8 weeks - 12 years old are accepted and reservations must be made at least 48 hrs in advance (same-day reservations and walk-ups may be accepted on a space-available basis).
