Before you go on the road, here are additional helpful Holiday Driving Tips from CNN to guide you on your way to celebrating an accident and hassle-free Thanksgiving.

1. Don't stay up late to pack then get behind the wheel at the break of day. Pack early, get a full night's sleep then hit the road fresh and rested.

2. Try to travel during daylight when visibility is best.If you do find yourself driving into the glare of a rising or setting sun, take a break until conditions improve.

3. Caffeine's effect is only temporary - once they wear-off you might even be sleepier. Driving drowsy causes many crashes and deaths each year.

4. Many parents are concerned about their child being absorbed in DVD players and handheld games. Instead, try games like cards, maps, family games and activity books to keep kids occupied and create more family interaction.

5. Rest every two hours or 100 miles, especially if you're travelling with children and pets. To avoid driver fatigue, share time behind the wheels with others in your party.

6. Make sure all passengers are buckled in. Chose the proper type of safety seats for your kids and make sure they are properly installed.
