The travel guide said I was in a cheap restaurant: C'est Mon Bleu Catepillar (or something like that). My French has never been that great. I guess the fact that the menu didn't have prices on it should have clued me in…

We started with some canapés, everyone got some Soufflé au Fromage (it was real cheesy), I ordered Filet Mignon aux Oignons with gratin dauphinois (pork loin and potatoes) but one of the other guys got some kind of a dish with duck and my friend Bill got some sliced up chicken with a sauce – Emincé de Volaille sauce Roquefort. We were all enjoying some chocolate mousse and working on a second bottle of champagne when the waiter brought me the bill. I had no idea champagne could cost that much for one bottle!

After a brief discussion with the head waiter, the restaurant agree to let me go down the road to a place where they gave people emergency cash loans – but my friends had to stay and wait for me.

I think after this I'll stick to beer and hamburgers.
