Budget Skiing

Budget Skiing

Finding ski deals is not that easy. Considering the cost of everything — from ski passes to hotels and meals, you can definitely assume that you would have to spend a considerable amount of money if you and your whole family plan on going skiing.

BUT, that doesn't mean that you have to scrap skiing from your plans. You just need to do more research in order to keep the cost down.

When skiing you can keep the cost down by:

Staying in Hostels.

Check ski.com's special deals for deeply discounted packages in resorts. Most deals offer a great value for your money but they are not necessarily cheap.

If you are planning to go skiing with your kids, you may want to consider going to resorts where kids are given free lift passes if they are accompanied by a paying adult. Go to ski resorts like…

  • Apex Mountain Resort, B.C — kids aged 7 and under are entitled to ski for free. The resort is located 30minutes away from Penticton, BC. It's a full service destination resort where you can expect quality snow, great weather and well-maintained terrain.
  • Big Sky Resort, Montana and Homewood Mountain Resort, Calif.– 10 and under can ski for free.
  • Blacktail Mountain, Mont. — kids aged 7 and under are given free lift passes.
  • Sun Valley, Idaho — offers the best as kids aged 15 and under have the advantage of skiing for free.

Another way to save some money is to schedule your skiing trip during the week. That way, you'll get better rates.
