These days of rising gas prices and remnants of the recession, people might difficulty to travel this summer.

But summer is summer and it definitely means vacation. The best thing to do is to watch out for hot deals and discounts, so you can still take the summer vacation you've always wanted.

Christine Sarkis of SmarterTravel.com has put together this Top 5 Bargain Destinations for Summer 2010 to point you in the right direction:

1. California

California has some of the busiest airports in the country, and getting there will be even easier this summer with new service from low-cost carriers Allegiant and Virgin America. Allegiant begins service between Tennessee's Tri-Cities Airport and LAX, and Eugene, Oregon, and LAX on June 3. And Virgin America kicks off service between Toronto and both Los Angeles and San Francisco starting June 23.

2. Bahamas

The Bahamas will get new air service just in time for summer: On June 13, Delta will launch flights on Wednesdays and Sundays between Atlanta and The Exumas, with fares starting from $129 each way.

3. Quebec City

United is putting Quebec City within reach of more Americans, with recently increased service from Chicago, plus a new flight from Washington, D.C., starting on June 10. Want to splurge for less? United also has summer first-class fares from California to Eastern Canada on sale, though the discounted fares require a 50-day advance purchase.

4. Myrtle Beach

Allegiant just kicked off new service from Fort Wayne, Indiana; Grand Rapids, Michigan; Knoxville, Tennessee; and Youngstown, Ohio. American Eagle recently launched seasonal service (through October 31) from Dallas/Fort Worth, and Spirit has just added a new daily nonstop route from Atlanta, with service through November 10. And, Myrtle Beach based Direct Air is running a 50-percent-off fare sale on tickets purchased by May 14.

5. Ireland

Aer Lingus currently has round-trip air and a seven-day car rental for rates starting from $519 from New York. And Scepter Tours has a luxury package with round-trip airfare, car rental, and six nights' accommodations-including one night at the Ritz-Carlton Powerscourt-starting at $799 from New York or $969 from San Francisco for stays June through September.
