The searing heat of summer is gone from Texas and October is peak season for Austin - the capital of Texas.
Travel Post has a nice piece on why Austin is an inviting Fall destination. The list is long and varied. You can take in a Longhorn game at the University of Texas. You can sample Texas wine as the grape harvest gets stomped. The nightlife is great and Austin bills itself as the Live Music Capital of the World.
Hill Country Wine attracts 5 million visitors a year to the Austin area.
Don't leave Austin without visiting Lady Bird Lake.
