Antigua on a Budget

Antigua has some of The best beaches in the Caribbean – protected beaches where the surf is reduced to a small ebb and flow. The best beaches on the island are Runaway Bay, Long Bay and Hawksbill Beach.

One way to save money is to take your own chair and umbrella to the beach. Almost anything you get or use at the beach will be ridiculously overprices. Find a way to take your own stuff – boogie boards, snorkelling gear, or whatever. You can sometimes get free access to such things if you eat your lunch at a beach resort's restaurant. The food will be expensive, but access resort facilities may make it worth it.

You can also save money in Antigua by convincing yourself ahead of time not to shop. There are few real deals. It's not the trinkets but the sunsets that you'll remember later, anyway.
