Hotwire.com is giving travelers the opportunity to check in 4-star hotels for the price of a 2-star hotel. Selected hotels in the US, France and Canada allows you to save from 48-61% off room rates.

I ran through a search for hotels in the Los Angeles area and found a 4-star hotwire Hotel. If you check-in between the period of July 24-July 27, 2007, instead of paying $229 you only have to pay $121 per night, which totals into $108 savings.

Or if you're vacationing in Paris, a 4-star hotel located in the Latin Quarter, guarantees you a daily room rate of $295 in the same period for 3 nights.
